Hi ,
You may not know this, but I've written a few books in my day. Fiction and nonfiction, independently published and traditionally published — I've even ghostwritten some.
I've learned 3 things from writing books:
1. Writing an entire book is a big project
2. My motivation is fickle ... and the muse is fickler
3. Staring at a blank page is a recipe for insanity
Over time, I developed a process for outlining and planning a book project that gets me over these hurdles.
With my roadmap in hand, the huge project is already broken down into reasonably sized chunks.
I don't have to rely on "motivation" — instead, I execute the plan, and the muse shows up right on schedule.
There isn't a single blank page in front of me through the whole project.
Once people find out I am an author, they begin peppering me with questions about how I do it. And that's fair — I'm a hands-on CEO and copywriter, I'm a mom, and I'm pursuing my masters degree in communications. So, like most people, I'm busy. It must seem like there's some secret to being able to write a book with life happening.
While there are a lot of things I do to find the time and mental space to write books, the thing that makes the biggest difference is creating my roadmap.
So ... I decided to write a tiny book about it.
Though Roadmapping Your Thought Leadership Book is geared toward writing thought leadership books (because hi, target audience), the process you'll learn works equally well for almost any kind of nonfiction writing, with the exception of memoir.
Right now, the e-book is only $2.99 on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and pretty much any other e-book marketplace you shop — and it's rolling out to libraries, too!
If writing a nonfiction book is on your to-do list, go grab your copy of Roadmapping Your Thought Leadership Book before you begin writing. It's a short little book with zero fluff, the first of (hopefully) several to come in my new Rapid Writing series. And pretty please leave a review!
Best,
